Actionstep is constantly working to improve the product we offer our customers. As we work on features, we often release them as part of a beta program before they are released to all customers.
Beta Testing Check List
When you sign up to beta test a feature, please do the following:
- Enable any related feature flags. You will be told which ones are needed when the beta program is launched.
- Review the provided documentation and start using the features that are being tested.
- Answer these questions as you use the feature:
- Does the wording on the options you're using make sense?
- Do the features you're using do what you expect?
- Is the workflow / process simple and straightforward?
- What would you change?
- What do you like about it?
- Share your thoughts by going to the Help & Support Center > Beta Features Feedback portal. Use this tool as often as you need. If you need more robust options for reporting feedback, contact Support or send us an email.
What Is the Actionstep Beta Program?
As Actionstep plans new features, we often get feedback from a smaller set of users before we make that feature available for all our customers to use. We do this through either a beta program, early access program, or both. Sometimes a feature will go from beta, to early access to a general release.
- A beta release is to a small, limited number of customers. It's expected that users in a beta group actively engage and provide feedback on the feature.
- An early release allows a larger group of customers to opt into a feature before it is made available to all customers. Feedback is encouraged but not required.
Who Can Participate?
Actionstep may ask customers who are likely to use the feature often to participate in a beta. These users may have been part of discovery calls about the feature or expressed an interest in it previously. Actionstep primarily seeks customers from a range of geographies, practice types, and other critical demographics rather than aim for a large number of users. Users can participate in multiple betas at the same time.
Beta FAQs
Q. How do I get to be part of a beta program?
Talk to your Actionstep Success Manager or contact Support. If you use the Feedback portal and express interest in a feature or product, you may also be contacted that way. (Please note that not all users who request to join a beta will be added. Actionstep will decide participants on a case-by-case basis.)
Q. How will I know how to use the feature in beta?
We will provide documentation to all users in a beta program. Often this content will be added to the Help Center after general release, so feedback on the documentation you receive is also welcome.
Q. How does communication work in the beta program?
In most cases, when the beta period starts for a feature or product, you will be notified using in-app messaging. These messages will include instructions and resources to help you get started. If additional communication is needed during the beta, these will also be communicated here.
Q. How will I provide feedback on the beta program?
You can provide feedback using the Beta Features Feedback module in the Help & Support Center. To do this, click the help icon in the bottom-right corner of Actionstep. You will find all of the resources you need under Beta Features Feedback. Additionally, if we do not receive any feedback from you, we may remind you with an occasional on-screen message.
Q. Will everyone in my firm be part of the beta program?
We will target communications and feedback from individual users, though it is important to note that once enabled, a feature in the beta program may be available to all your Actionstep users. We will advise if there are permissions that you can use to limit access to a new feature.
Individual users in the beta program may be asked to gather and provide feedback from other users within your organization who are also using the feature. If you want, you can request that multiple users from your organization are added as beta users to provide feedback.
Q. Once I am in a beta program, will I always have the feature?
Most of the time, yes. If you want to leave the beta group, please supply that as feedback or reach out to our support team. We will advise you if there are any steps you need to take to remove access to the feature as well as remove you from any beta program communications. Please note that we may remove users or organizations from a beta program if we are not able to get the required level of feedback from the user.
Q. Will my data and feedback be private?
Actionstep monitors usage of new features (e.g., how long it takes to complete a specific workflow or how often something is clicked) but we do not view or track any data or personally identifiable information entered while using the feature.
The feedback provided will only be viewed by Actionstep staff involved in the beta program. If we want to use your feedback in marketing materials and attribute it to you / your firm, we will do so only with your permission.
