Reviewing Fee Entries

There are many different ways you can enter time and fees in Actionstep. (See Creating a Time Entry for complete instructions.) Regardless of how time is entered, all time records and their associated charges can be viewed in the associated matter. 



To view fees entered for a matter:

  1. In Actionstep. view the matter for the fees you want to review. (See Editing a Matter for help.)
  2. Click the Billing menu icon. The Billing page appears.
  3. Click the Fees link on the left side of the page. A list of fees is displayed, showing the following information:

    Column Description
    DateShows the date of the time entry.  This is the date to which the time entry relates not the date the time was entered.
    TimekeeperShows the timekeeper who recorded the time.
    Quick-codeDisplays the quick code associated with the time entry.
    DescriptionShows a description of the time entry.
    Effective RateLists the value of the time record.
    Hours WorkedShows how many hours were worked.
    Hours to BillLists how many hours are billable. (This differs from hours worked since some time may not be billable.)
    Rate LabelDisplays the rate label associated with the time entry.
    Rate SourceDisplays what rate source the time entry is utilizing. (This comes down to the rate hierarchy and how it is implemented.)
    Bill AmountShows the total value of time that is to be billed.
    Bill StatusShows the status of the time entry: unbilled, non-billable, or billed.
    Inv No.Displays the invoice number where the time entry has been billed to.

 

The total WIP (work in progress) ready to be billed (invoiced) is displayed on the Invoice now button:


You can click the Invoice button to create the bill and review the time entries that are ready to be billed.
