Syncing Work Between Word Designer and Online Designer

Modified on Fri, 20 Dec at 4:07 PM

ABOUT BUILDER:  At this time, Builder is available to selected pilot customers only. However, all customers will be able to access Builder soon. To learn more about this new product, contact your customer success manager or submit a Customer Support Ticket. Information in this article may still be in development.

When building your templates using Builder, you will frequently work in both the Online Workspace and the Word Designer at the same time. To make sure both environments are up to date and show the most current information, you must sync your work.

NOTE:  Once a template has been added to Builder, all interaction you have with the template is managed through the Word Designer and Builder ribbon. This includes using the Builder ribbon to 1) open the Builder copy of the template to edit it, 2) save your changes, and 3) close it. Even though you're working in a Microsoft Word window, any changes you make—including to the template file itself—are saved to and stored in Builder (as long as you use the Save option in the Builder ribbon). You can also save the file you're working on to your hard drive (by using Word's Save option), but you're simply creating a back-up of the file.

To save your work in Word and access it in the Workspace:

  1. In Microsoft Word, use the Save option in the Builder ribbon to save your work.
  2. View the Builder Online Workspace.
  3. Use your browser’s refresh option to refresh the workspace.

To save your work in the Workspace and access it in the Word Designer:

  1. While working in the Builder Online Workspace, click the Save icon to save your work.
  2. In Microsoft Word, click the Refresh icon in the Builder ribbon.
